Luna Light

A handmade original reduction linocut print by printmaker and artist Lisa Benson.

Luna Light is inspired by the nights where the moonlight illuminates the clouds bringing depth, shape and a serene drama to our skies.

Limited edition of 15 prints.

Luna Light is a reduction linocut print. This means that I start by carving away any area I would like to remain white and then ink and print the first colour on as many pieces of paper as I would like in the edition. I then carve away from the lino any areas I would like to stay the colour I just printed, ink up the lino with the next colour and print them all again. This process is repeated until all that is left is the final colour, in this case the black. There are eight layers in total, seven that are reduction linocut and one layer that was added half way through to create a gradient from the the bottom of the foreground into the bottom of the clouds. Of the twenty that I started with fifteen made the edition. One has been selected for the Ironbridge Printmakers Competition in October 2025, a couple will be in Heart Of The Tribe gallery in Glastonbury Somerset and others will be held back for other exhibitions in addition to the ones that will be available here.

The inks used for this print are Caligo Safewash Inks

The paper is Fabriano Unica 250gsm printmaking paper.

Although all care is taken to represent the prints as well as possible in the photographs, colours may appear slightly differently on screen to the actual print.

Delivery

The print is wrapped in acid free tissue paper before being rolled and placed in a sturdy postal tube ready for posting. Delivery is free in the UK via my website. Delivery charges apply to the rest of the world. Apologies but delivery is currently unavailable to BT postcodes and the EU.

Handmade Prints

These prints are all handmade and as such there can be slight variations in the prints in an edition, though these are very slight. It means that each print in an edition is unique and is an original in it’s own right.

Varied Editions (VE)

Prints that are marked VE by the edition number are part of a varied edition. This means there are enough difference between the prints that they are sold by their individual number.

Please bear in mind that although I take every care to photograph the prints as faithfully as possible there can also be variations in colour between what you view on a screen and the original print.

Postage is either First Class or First Class signed for in the UK.

Prints are sent tracked and signed for to the rest of the world.

Sending Your Prints

Unmounted Prints

Smaller prints are sent in a flat, card backed envelopes, cardboard reinforced package or in a postal tube.

All larger unmounted prints are sent in a rigid cardboard tube to arrived safely with you. Prints sent in a tube will need to be carefully unrolled and flattened out.

Mounted Prints

Smaller mounted prints will be sent in a card backed envelope with additional padding to prevent damage. Larger mounted prints are packed between sheets of thick card and then wrapped in paper to protect them.
