A handmade limited edition linocut print of Exmoor ponies grazing wild on Selworthy Beacon near Minehead, Somerset.

Selworthy Ponies is a jigsaw/key block linocut printed in two stages. The first lino is what is known as a jigsaw linocut where the lino is cut into different pieces which are inked and re-assembled before being put through the hand press. The second lino carries all the detail which I carved into the plate.

The ponies in the print are Exmoor ponies, they are wild grazing on Selworthy Beacon in Somerset which lies within the boundaries of Exmoor National Park. It reflects a blustery wild day with big skies, intermittent rain and splashes of sun, typical English weather! I worked with horses for many years and as yet have found no other animal that matches the sense of peace that they do. The hills, the ponies and despite the big skies and windy day there was underneath it all an overwhelming sense of peace. If you don’t know the poem ‘The Horse’ by Ronald Duncan then maybe check it out, I think he sums them up beautifully.

The inks used for this print are Aqua-Linoldruck Schmincke inks which have high lightfast properties.
The paper is Daler-Rowney Canford paper 150gsm.

As each print is inked and printed by hand there will be slight variations between each print, each one is in it’s own way an original.
Colours may appear slightly differently on screen to the print.

Handmade Prints

These prints are all handmade and as such there can be slight variations in the prints in an edition, though these are very slight. It means that each print in an edition is unique and is an original in it’s own right.

Varied Editions (VE)

Prints that are marked VE by the edition number are part of a varied edition. This means there are enough difference between the prints that they are sold by their individual number.

Please bear in mind that although I take every care to photograph the prints as faithfully as possible there can also be variations in colour between what you view on a screen and the original print.

Delivery

Postage is either First Class or First Class signed for in the UK.

Prints are sent tracked and signed for to the rest of the world.

Sending Your Prints

Unmounted Prints

Smaller prints are sent in a flat, card backed envelopes, cardboard reinforced package or in a postal tube.

All larger unmounted prints are sent in a rigid cardboard tube to arrived safely with you. Prints sent in a tube will need to be carefully unrolled and flattened out.

Mounted Prints

Smaller mounted prints will be sent in a card backed envelope with additional padding to prevent damage. Larger mounted prints are packed between sheets of thick card and then wrapped in paper to protect them.
