Across Time

A handmade original foil lithography print by printmaker and artist Lisa Benson.

As I stand on Helwell Beach, known for its fossils, in Watchet, North Somerset and look across to the Hinkley Point nuclear reactor site I can’t help but be struck by the breath of time that the scene encapsulates. The premise behind this print is quite simple. From the ammonites in the foreground on the bottom right to Hinkley Point in the distance on the left, this print marks a spot that can transport you across time.

Limited varied edition of 5 prints.

Print size approx 38 x 29cm

Paper size approx 46.5 x 38cm

Each of the prints in this edition differs slightly as I play with the inking of each print to create slightly different moods. The print number in the edition that you choose will be the print that you receive.

This is a foil lithography print which is also known as kitchen lithography. Each printing plate is made using aluminium foil onto which marks are made before sensitising the foil so it can be inked by hand using a damp sponge and an oil based ink on a roller. The process is somewhat delicate as it is easy to tear the foil but despite it’s troublesome nature it does give the opportunity to create some wonderful marks on the printing plate.

The inks used for this print are Caligo Etching Inks.

The print is printed onto Snowdon acid free 130gsm cartridge paper and then trimmed and mounted onto Heritage white 200gsm paper. .

Although all care is taken to represent the prints as well as possible in the photographs, colours may appear slightly differently on screen to the actual print.

Delivery

The print is wrapped in acid free tissue paper before going into either a sturdy 75mm postal tube or being sandwiched between sheets of card and posted out to you. Delivery is in the UK only via my website. Apologies but delivery is currently unavailable to BT postcodes and the EU.

Handmade Prints

These prints are all handmade and as such there can be slight variations in the prints in an edition, though these are very slight. It means that each print in an edition is unique and is an original in it’s own right.

Varied Editions (VE)

Prints that are marked VE by the edition number are part of a varied edition. This means there are enough difference between the prints that they are sold by their individual number.

Please bear in mind that although I take every care to photograph the prints as faithfully as possible there can also be variations in colour between what you view on a screen and the original print.

Delivery

At the current time only UK postage inside the UK is available due to changes in the overseas postal services.
