A handmade original multi block linocut print by printmaker and artist Lisa Benson.

Wolf Moon is inspired by the tradition of naming each full moon of the year and the welcome appearance of Snowdrops, often the first of the Spring flowers to appear. Apparently the January full moon was called a Wolf Moon as the howls of cold and hungry wolves could be heard on the long dark nights. The appearance of the Snowdrop was a signal that new life was returning, bringing with it longer days, although there was still a way to go.

Wolf Moon is a multi block linocut print where I print individual lino blocks that I have hand carved one on top of the other to create the layers of the final print. The first lino block has been cut into two parts so that the green of the Snowdrops and the blue of the night sky can be inked as two individual gradient rolls. The second block only prints onto the Snowdrops and adds the shadows. The third and final block is printed in black and holds all the details of the print including the howling wolf.

The inks used for this print are Caligo Safewash Inks

The paper is Fabriano Unica 250gsm printmaking paper.

Although all care is taken to represent the prints as well as possible in the photographs, colours may appear slightly differently on screen to the actual print.

Delivery

The print is wrapped in acid free tissue paper before being placed between layers of thick card and wrapped for posting. Delivery is free in the UK via my website. Delivery charges apply to the rest of the world. Apologies but delivery is currently unavailable to BT postcodes and the EU.

Handmade Prints

These prints are all handmade and as such there can be slight variations in the prints in an edition, though these are very slight. It means that each print in an edition is unique and is an original in it’s own right.

Varied Editions (VE)

Prints that are marked VE by the edition number are part of a varied edition. This means there are enough difference between the prints that they are sold by their individual number.

Please bear in mind that although I take every care to photograph the prints as faithfully as possible there can also be variations in colour between what you view on a screen and the original print.

Delivery

Postage is either First Class or First Class signed for in the UK.

Prints are sent tracked and signed for to the rest of the world.

Sending Your Prints

Unmounted Prints

Smaller prints are sent in a flat, card backed envelopes, cardboard reinforced package or in a postal tube.

All larger unmounted prints are sent in a rigid cardboard tube to arrived safely with you. Prints sent in a tube will need to be carefully unrolled and flattened out.

Mounted Prints

Smaller mounted prints will be sent in a card backed envelope with additional padding to prevent damage. Larger mounted prints are packed between sheets of thick card and then wrapped in paper to protect them.
